Description:  Postoperative bleeding (P2Y12) is a hereditary bleeding disorder in which platelet function is affected. Platelets are blood cells that are required for normal blood clotting. Affected dogs usually appear healthy, but are at increased risk of spontaneous bleeding, including excessive bleeding of the gingival during tooth extraction, nose bleeding and superficial bleeding from the skin. Severe bleeding occurs during surgery or after injury and usually requires transfusion.
