Description:  Determination of the genetic profile (DNA profile) means the identification of a set of markers that are characteristic and unmistakable for a given individual. According to the DNA profile, the individual can be clearly identified. The DNA profile is useful for identifying animals (loss, theft, microchip failure, identity in insemination …), parental analysis, breeding planning for breeding, and exclusion of genetic diseases (clear by parentage). To establish the DNA profile, the following 22 microsatellite markers are analyzed: AHT121, REN54P11, AHTk253, AHTk211, AHTh171, CXX279, FH2054, INRA21, REN162C04, AHTh260, INU030, INU055, REN105L03, AHT137, FH2848, REN247M23, REN169O18, Amelogenin, REN169D01, INU005, AHTH130, REN64E19. The markers tested are recommended by ISAG (International Society for Animal Genetics).

Slovgen is an ISAG institutional member. Slovgen regularly participates in comparative quality tests, which is every two years held by ISAG (International Society for Animal Genetics). Here, you can see the latest certificate of quality, where Slovgen was successful in 2018/2019, 2020-2021 in 100% of all the determining markers of canine DNA profile.

Sample: EDTA whole blood (1.0 ml) or 2 buccal brushes. Blood samples are preferred for DNA profile testing because the method is very sensitive to DNA quality. Analysis can be performed on buccal swab samples, but swabs must be taken properly. If DNA profile testing is unsuccessful due to DNA quality issues, we charge 50 % of the full price. For official purposes, the confirmation of the dog’s identity by Veterinarian is recommended.

The analysis is suitable for the following breeds: all dog breeds

Notes: The price also includes any parental analysis, ie. parental confirmation. The determination of the DNA profile is necessary to confirm the parents. It is also possible to supply a DNA profile already established by another laboratory.
